In a team with 3 high school friends, we competed in the Technology Consulting Competition in partnership with a Banxx, a fintech startup, the Scotiabank Digital Banking Lab and EY. The case was judged by Ivey faculty and industry experts while having been written by Banxx’s parent company, AssetDirect’s CEO himself.
The challenge? Find a use case for Banxx’s white labelling open-banking platform to allow it to expand into new markets around the world. In a incredibly rewarding experience, we consulted mentors from Oliver Wyman and worked overtime to win second place. During this project, I created the app design from scratch, played a key role in developing the strategy and created the overall design system for the slides.

A Need for Banking
In the United States, the healthcare industry is inherently financial. Healthcare spending remains huge at 17.6% of the GDP. Additionally, many have debt related to healthcare costs with a laundry list of financial products, from health credit cards to healthcare savings accounts to manage their finances.

Additionally, many have debt related to healthcare costs with a laundry list of financial products, from health credit cards to healthcare savings accounts to manage their finances.
Pain Points Suffered Universally
The sea of financial products confuses consumers while they navigate different plans, accounts and credit cards. Because of this, many struggle to choose the right plans and remain underinsured or fail to pay premiums. As a result, insurers suffer with many patients failing to renew their plans.

By leveraging Banxx’s powerful features we can solve the aforementioned pain points. The existing ability for AI to analyze and tailor financial products can be applied to healthcare financial products. The ability to suggest products and personal offers can be applied to navigating varying prescription prices. Lastly the ability to provide personalized financial recommendations helps patients save and be in control of their finances. By empowering consumers, they’re more likely to be able to choose the right plans and pay for proper insurance coverage.

By leveraging strategic partnerships, AI-powered financial education, and targeted marketing, we aim to drive adoption while ensuring regulatory alignment and market credibility, setting the stage for national expansion.
