caring for our seniors

The Yee Hong Community Wellness Foundation is a Toronto non-profit tasked with raising at least 6 million dollars each year to support the operations of the Yee Hong care homes and hospice. During my time, at the foundation, we were tasked with raising $80 million to support the construction of another long-term care home. My role was to support current marketing campaigns through graphic design and to create new campaigns for new events and fundraisers.

Campaign Goal
The main goal for pop-up for Love Gives was to expand our donor base and reach young families to become new donors. The POP-UP for Love Gives was a new initiative to host a family walkathon at the Toronto Zoo. As a flagship event for the capital campaign, I was tasked with designing and illustrating the campaign to support the overall goals of the organization.

POP-UP for Love Gives

Using bright colours, playful typefaces and friendly illustrations, the design was carefully curated to appeal to generations we serve. Elements taken directly from the activations were incorporated, a magnifying glass for the scavenger hunt and scenes of families in the zoo. Inspired by maps and safaris, a topological pattern was used throughout the design.

During my tenure at the Yee Hong Foundation I was also tasked with being the main designer and campaign lead for the annual Golf Tournament hosted by the foundation. The goal of the event is to bring together corporate partners of the care network to provide a golfing and networking experience.

Initial Design Drafts

Previously, the design for the annual golf classic has been lacklustre, giving off the vibes of something whipped up in powerpoint, serving it's purpose, green and readable. As a golfer myself, my inspiration for the Yee Hong Golf Classic logos came from a combination of modern designs used in professional golf leagues, especially the PGA tournaments, and the classic aesthetics of traditional golf club logos.

The first draft takes a more classic route, featuring elegant serif fonts and traditional golf-related imagery to evoke the timeless elegance of golf tournaments. The second draft adopts a modern approach, with bold typography and sleek, minimalist icons to reflect the professional, contemporary nature of golf today. Both designs were developed to ensure they capture the essence of both modernity and tradition, making the logos versatile and fitting for the Yee Hong Golf Classic.

Final Design

After the initial drafts, I worked closely with the public relations and communications manager and the event staff for the Golf Classic. Together their feedback and vision shaped the current iteration.

Key considerations include a venue change from previous years, the feature image reassures participants, positioning the new venue as a feature of the tournament.

Additionally, the topographical pattern was added because of feedback received from a previously white background. The pattern serves to ground the design and is a nod to the elevation maps commonly to analyze golf courses and greens.
